Krishno Paul, a ceramist, lives in a small village in Bangladesh along with his wife, son, and daughter. Krishno strongly wants his son Polash to learn ceramics and help him with his work, while Palash wants to do something bigger. Krishno decides to marry off his daughter Rupa at a very young age when a proposal from a rich family comes into his hands. But he struggles to pay the dowry for the marriage.

মৃৎশিল্পী কৃষ্ণ পাল তার স্ত্রী, ছেলে ও মেয়েকে নিয়ে বাংলাদেশের একটি ছোট্ট গ্রামে বাস করেন। কৃষ্ণ খুব করে চান যে তার ছেলে পলাশ তার মতোই মাটির কাজ শিখুক এবং তার কাজে সাহায্য করুক, কিন্তু পলাশ জীবনে আরও বড় কিছু করতে চায়। অন্যদিকে একটি বড় ঘরের বিয়ের প্রস্তাব হাতে আসায় কৃষ্ণ তার মেয়ে রূপাকে খুব কম বয়েসেই বিয়ে দেবেন বলে সিদ্ধান্ত নেন। কিন্তু যৌতুকের বিশাল অংকের টাকা জোগাড় করতে গিয়ে হিমশিম খেয়ে যান কৃষ্ণ।

Riddha Anindya Ganguly was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh on July 26, 1997. He works as an assistant director and scriptwriter for short films and television productions. He is also a freelance writer, who often writes op-eds in national newspapers. Riddha is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Archaeology at Jahangirnagar University. 'Maati' is his first film as a director.
