Opu is a poor child who has to earn for his family but instead, he loves to play with nature, birds and so on for which, he was punished every day. He also did dummy things with his mother. One day, he saw a boy making some origami birds. He started stealing those birds every day. Later, Opu quietly gave that boy some of his collections like marbles & bird feathers and then ran away. Before leaving, he gave that boy a tip to join him. He followed Opu and was surprised when he saw that Opu tied all those origami birds with a big tree. After that, they started feeling like a bird and kept playing together.

অপু খুব গরিব পরিবারের একজন ছেলে। সংসারের টানাপোড়নে টাকা উপার্জনের জন্য তাকে বাইরে কাজে যেতে হয়। কিন্তু তার কাজ করতে একদমই ভালো লাগে না। তার ভালো লাগে মাঠে ছুটতে, পাখির সাথে খেলতে - প্রকৃতির সাথে খেলতে। আর এ জন্যই অপুকে প্রতিদিন মার খেতে হয় বাবার কাছে। অপু ওর মাকে জ্বালাতে ভীষণ পছন্দ করে। তাই প্রতিদিনই কোন না কোন ভাবে সে তার মাকে জ্বালিয়েই থাকে। একদিন অপু দেখতে পায় একটা ছেলে কাগজ দিয়ে পাখি বানাচ্ছে। পাখিগুলোও তার বেশ পছন্দ হয়। সেদিন থেকে প্রায় প্রতিদিনই অপু পাখিগুলো চুরি করে। কিন্তু একদিন অপু নিজেই সেই ছেলেকে ওর কুড়িয়ে পাওয়া সংগ্রহ থেকে কিছু মার্বেল আর পাখির পালক দেয় এবং ছেলেটিকে ইশারা করে তার পিছু পিছু যাবার। ছেলেটি অপুর পিছু পিছু যায় এবং একটা জায়গায় গিয়ে সে থমকে দাঁড়ায়। ছেলেটি দেখতে পায়, অপু ছেলেটির বানানো পাখিগুলোকে একটা বড় গাছের সাথে ঝুলিয়ে দিয়েছে এবং পাখিগুলো বাতাসে দুলছে। কিছুক্ষণের জন্য তাদের দু'জনেরই মনে হতে থাকে তারা পাখি এবং পাখির মত কল্পনার ডানা মেলে তারাও খেলা শুরু করে দেয় আর সেই সাথে হারিয়ে যায় পাখিদের রাজ্যে।
